Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United States. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the attorney general for California from 2011 until 2017 and was an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her career began with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010, Harris was elected Attorney General of California. She was reelected in 2014. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to do so in the United States Senate. She was a senator who advocated for healthcare and federal de-scheduling cannabis. The path towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. In the news, attention was paid to her shrewd questions of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
